Islamic Sharia
Education – Islamic Sharia Course
The establishment of the Faculty of Islamic Studies in June 1999 marked a significant milestone in promoting the field of Islamic studies. Through a comprehensive curriculum revision, the faculty aims to equip students with a profound understanding of Islamic studies. The faculty offers a diverse range of courses covering Arabic Language, Quran, Sunnah, and Shariah.
The primary objective of the faculty is to nurture a generation of scholars who possess academic excellence, intellectual vision, a broad perspective, moral grounding, and spiritual strength. These qualities enable them to provide dynamic leadership within the community.
Our key goals are as follows:
- Guiding students to acquire comprehensive knowledge of Arabic Language and a deep understanding of the sources of Islamic law, its scope, objectives, implications, and its application within the context of Sri Lanka’s pluralistic society.
- Equipping students with the necessary skills to analyze information, propose solutions to problems from an Islamic perspective, and effectively communicate shared Islamic values and objectives to stakeholders.
- Encouraging students to pursue further training, develop new competencies, exhibit desirable qualities and skills for employment, and exercise personal responsibility in decision-making.
- Preparing students for research-based postgraduate studies, enabling them to consolidate and enhance their knowledge in specific subjects or disciplines while fostering research capacity and skills.
